A weird coincidence, but seeing the decomposed ghost of the baby with his mother reminded me of Ewan in Trainspotting with the neglected baby that died because his mother was an addict. Similar themes from both scenes.
The devil,evil identity at the bar didn't know or care for Danny's identity and had no idea It was wearing the mask of his father. It feeds off of toxic thoughts and looked for the same exact thoughts Jack had and started spitting them out,making him more identifiable as Jack. That hotel was just a prison of lost,poor,damaged soul's and the bar was a the huge trap for the poor suckers.😐😖😥.

The Shining is my favorite film watching experience. Saw it alone at home in the night. Enjoy rewatching the interview and the hotel tour scenes at times. I like to think that these monsters that feed on children keep on screaming in agony for a very very long just cant see or hear it anymore.

Doctor Sleep is a strange film to me, there are elements that it nails and then there are parts when i'm questioning why make a film that follows up a horror classic in the shining. Ewan Mcgregor gives a solid performance in the film, answering the question of what Danny Torrance is like when hes older after the events of the shining. The film does an excellent job of not just appreciating Kubrick's work but instead enhances it making you fully appreciate how great of a director he was and how good the shining actually is. This movie to me was a little more scarier then what the shining was to me which some would see as a positive, and you can see a lot of effort has gone into this film and it really tries hard to not just be a cash grab ripping off the name to make money.
However, Doctor Sleep falls into some traps that a modern blockbuster type of film does by spelling everything out for you which in a lot of movies that's fine but the shining was a film that left things up to your interpretation, that to me is why it is considered a classic because people find new things to find in that film to this day because of Kubrick's directing. This feels more by the numbers and I was a little disappointed that it spells everything out. Also the shining is full of iconic moments and some masterful cinematography. When this film tries to do the same its just replaying those old shots that Kubrick used, and doesn't bring anything new to the table in that regard, and makes me wonder why make a shining sequel film and play it so safe. It also has a kind of superhero element to it with villains which I found really weird for this type of film. We see a storyline between an antagonist vs the protagonist so many times a year which feels like a shame because the shining was such a innovative film.
Overall I did enjoy doctor sleep and the experience that it brought but I think if you're going to follow up a Kubrick film you need to take some risks of your own and i think how safe it is holds the film back a little and makes this film forgettable compared to the shining.
